State FBLA Leadership Conference:

Sterling chapter has three placers, sends Lairmore to Nationals

STERLNG – Only two years into its charter, Sterling FBLA had 13 of its 22 active members attend the State Leadership Conference in Omaha that was held on April 6-8.

 

The members who attended were Dylan Benson, Jacob Schwenneker, Valerie Keim, Jayda Furtado, Liset de Haan, Ben Hier, Kaleb Williams, Daniel Schwenneker, Ryan Lairmore, Cameron VanGroningen, Morgan Haner, Malayna Wingert and Hannah Thies.

 

The members competed in a variety of business related competitions, ranging from Networking Concepts to Job Interview.

 

The Sterling members were very successful and had two members recognized for Honorable Mention at the awards ceremony that was held on April 7.

 

Honorable mention recognizes competitors who place in the top 4 percent in any competition.

 

Ryan Lairmore received Honorable Mention in Computer Problem Solving and Malayna Wingert received Honorable Mention honors in Introduction to Business.

 

The awards ceremony on April 8, is reserved for the competitors placing within the top eight in their individual competitions.

 

Sterling’s FBLA chapter had three members recognized during the ceremony.

 

Wingert earned eighth place in the Introduction to Business Communications out of 400 competitors.

 

Keim earned seventh place in Health Care Administration out of 323 competitors.

Lairmore received third place out of 204 competitors in Introduction to Information Technology.

 

With his third-place honors, Lairmore has automatically qualified for the National Leadership Conference to be held on June 27 in Anaheim, Calif.
