LINCOLN – The Norris wrestling team came in fourth at the Lincoln Pius X wrestling duals on Saturday, while individually senior wrestler Mathew Harvey picked up his 100th career victory.

“I’d like to congratulate Matthew Harvey for his great accomplishments during the Pius Invitational,” Norris head wrestling coach Jason Cullison said. “He was named outstanding wrestler of the dual competition and also earned his 100th career win in the last match of the day.”

The Titans entered the Pius Invite fresh off season-opening dual wins against York and Seward on Thursday night.

At Piux, Norris went 2-3 and defeated Omaha Central and Lincoln Northeast.

“The team wrestled tough,” Cullison said.  “We still have wrestlers descending down so a number of kids are wrestling up a weight. This week all 145 pounders to heavyweight will be down to their weight they will be competing at this season.”

Cullison said there were many highlights in the meet The team had two wrestlers go 4-1 on the day which included Tyler Pester and Zach Serna. There were also three members of the team that went five and zero on the day. They include Clayton Williams, Harvey and Gavin Eason.

In the home duals, Norris made a late run to steal away a dual victory over York. The Titans had to win three of their last five matches to secure the win.

Simon Johnson, Clayton Williams and newcomer Treyce Stutzman all came through with pins to help the team win by 12 points.

In the second dual of the night, Chris Richardson sealed the dual win for Norris with a fall over Jordan Covert of Seward in the 138-pound match in 3:31.
