Sunday, Ross and Karen Zuhlke of Sterling along with Steve Zuhlke of Liberty, Mo. hosted a luncheon party for their mother Margrie Zuhlke’s 90th birthday. What a beautiful day for such a joyous event! Not a cloud in the sky!
The Adams VFW Post 10042 will host a soup luncheon on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Building in Adams. Free-will offering! Homemade soup (turkey noodle or chili) and your choice of pie.
Condolences to the family of James Maurice Helmink, May 1, 1924 through Oct. 6, 2017. He is survived by his wife Margery (Schoonveld), who was a 1951 graduate of Adams High School, seven children, 25 grandchildren and a host of other family. He was a past administrator at Gold Crest Retirement Center.
“The Hometown” Adams book is still in the works. Bev Buss, Janie Oltman, Karen Page and Elvera Seeley are meeting regularly to decide what goes in the book and what doesn’t, what pictures to include and which ones not to include. We had hoped to have the book ready for Christmas delivery, but we have determined that will not be possible. We are now looking at a spring publication date. We have a good selection of older pictures and many stories, but if you have pictures and stories to share of more recent (1950s to present) community activities, etc., please contact one of the women. Thank you for your patience. We want to do this right.
The weather seems to keep repeating with rain every week. Sooner or later it has to change!
